Antonio Conte: Why my feud with Jose Mourinho is personal

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has insisted that his feud with Jose Mourinho has become personal, and explained why.

The Italian and the Portuguese tactician have been at the centre of a public spat over the past two weeks, which seems to have escalated since that Red Devils manager claimed that he would never be “suspended for match-fixing” unlike his opponent, although he was later cleared of the charges.

Speaking ahead of the Blues’ League Cup match against Arsenal on Wednesday, Conte, who had called his counterpart a “little man” in response to the match-fixing jibe, told members of the media that he “won’t forget” what Mourinho had said, and has no regrets over hitting back at him in the media.

“Do I have the look of a person with regret? I don’t think so,” the former Italy manager said, as quoted by Sky Sports.

“He said serious words, and he has used serious words. And I won’t forget this.

“This is not a problem for the club, and it’s a problem between him and me. Now I stop.

“I think we both said things, and we’ll see what happens in the future.”

All eyes will be on Mourinho’s pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of United’s game against Stoke City as many believe he will respond to Conte’s latest words.
