Philippe Coutinho reacts to scoring first goal against Valencia


PHILIPPE COUTINHO has reacted to scoring his first goal since moving to Barcelona

The Brazilian turned home former Liverpool team-mate Luis Suarez’s deep cross by sliding in at the back post.

The 49th-minute strike put the La Liga leaders 1-0 up against Valencia in their Copa del Rey semi-final second leg.

Ivan Rakitic added a second eight minutes from time as Barcelona cruised to a 3-0 aggregate win.

The win means the Catalan club will face the either Sevilla or Leganes, who face off in the remaining semi-final, in the end-of-season final.

However, Coutinho played down his debut goal and said it was more important that the had another shot of silverware.

“I am very happy, first months that I arrived and to be able to play a final,” Coutinho said.

“I was looking for the goal, the most important thing is that the team won.”

Coutinho moved to Barcelona for £142million in January.

However, boss Ernesto Valverde took a number of weeks to integrate him into the squad.

But now he seems fully up to speed and linked up well with Lionel Messi and Suarez
